Did you know the NWC works in a number of provinces, including Alberta? This great blue heron was rescued from a processing plant runoff pond in Alberta. After just over two weeks in care, we were able to release this gorgeous bird. NWC’s Dr. Cassandra Lapham-Simpson and her team from Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation performed a wash on him to remove the contaminants from his feathers. When they took him for a flight test, they were thrilled to see him fly and maneuver quite well in the flight pen. He has now been successfully released!
