Summary
Capture and transport injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife, ensuring they receive prompt medical attention. May also assist in releasing and/or reuniting offspring with mothers when possible.
Requirements
All the same requirements as listed in the general requirement section with the addition of the following:
- Must follow health and safety guidelines
 - Communication is vital in this role
 - Must be fit and be able to pick up 25 lb (11.3 kg)
 - This position includes exposure to many allergens (peanuts, eggs, hay, pollen, dander, fur)
 - Must have access to the internet for communication
 
Commitment
- Minimum of a six-month commitment
 - Hours vary according to rescue
 
Responsibilities
Rescuers responsibilities include capture and transporting of injured, sick or orphaned wildlife, and:
- Rescuers will have to evaluate if animals are
truly sick, injured or orphaned - Rescuers will have to deal with species that may have zoonotic diseases (diseases that could be transmitted to humans)
 - Rescuers will try to reunite offspring with their mothers if possible
 - Rescuers will coordinate the capture with other rescuers and hotline volunteers
 - Rescuers will act in a timely manner
 - Rescuers will also release animals back to where they came from
