    Requirements

    All the same requirements as listed in the general requirement section with the addition of the following:

    • Understanding that this position includes exposure to many allergens (peanuts, eggs, hay, pollen, dander, fur)
    • Wildlife knowledge and wildlife rehabilitation knowledge preferred or must be willing to learn

    Commitment

    Six-month commitment with at least one four-hour shift per week

    Responsibilities

    The front hotline admission volunteer will be dealing with the public, offering advice and support for those who have found sick, injured or orphaned wildlife. In addition, this position will include:

    • Answering the phone
    • Educating and giving advice
    • Evaluating if animals are truly sick, injured or orphaned (photos, video, descriptions)
    • Talking people through picking up an animal or reuniting with the parent animal
    • Documenting all the rescuers information and messages into WRMD (rehab database) and WRMD hotline section
    • Contacting rescue and taxi drivers and coordinating pick-ups if needed
    • Assisting public with animal admissions to the hospital
    • Replying to messages
    • Updating WRMD
