Requirements
All the same requirements as listed in the general requirement section with the addition of the following:
- Communication is vital in this role
- Must be fit and be able to pick up a 25 lb bag (11.3 kg)
- This position includes exposure to many allergens (peanuts, eggs, hay, pollen, dander, fur)
- Includes exposure to animal food such as insects, and raw meat (cutting up dead rats and other species)
Commitment
At least one four-hour shift once a week for six months (possibility of one night feeding, dependent on species)
Responsibilities
- Diet preparation and feeding of adult and infant animals
- Animal capture and restraint
- Cleaning indoor and outdoor enclosures
- Providing enrichment (includes foraging for dandelions, duckweed, acorns, branches, etc.)
- Observation and documentation
- Washing, drying and folding laundry
- Sweeping and mopping
- Washing, disinfecting and drying dishes
- Interacting with the public in a positive manner
- Maintenance of enclosures
- Assist with any other projects as needed
