As spring fast approaches our doctors from the National Wildlife Centre in both Nova Scotia and Ontario are treating porcupines that are expecting!
Looking closely at the x-ray, you can see the skeleton of the baby expected in late spring/ early summer.
As in humans, some medications are not safe for the baby during pregnancy. Our doctors carefully decide what medications are safe to treat the external parasites and central nervous system infections these mamas have.
Thank you to Hope for Wildlife and Shades of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary for providing these expecting mothers a warm place to stay and excellent nourishment.
